Salon du Fromage – Fondue

by essjayeats on August 23, 2012

Soooo excited about this little event!  18 tickets only so don’t be slow.

In my travels for Fringe Food I’ve met some amazing people who are just as passionate about food and wine as I am. I’ve been lucky enough to get to know Bec and Adam wh0 love cheese MORE than I do. I’m frustrated at how difficult it is to buy cheese that’s been handled with love and respect.  No sweaty cling wrap, cuts sides scraped regularly and wheels treated with love. Adam and Bec have joined me in my quest to present delicious cheese, perfectly ripe, cut fresh for you and matched with a glass of wine and some cheese chatter.

At the back of my favourite bar, Gerald’s in North Carlton, is a small room, richly decorated and known as The Salon. Come anytime from 6:30 to 7:30 for a generous taste of fondue made to a traditional Swiss recipe, taste four different wines that have been matched and take home the cheese for your own fondue, with the recipe.  We’ll be cutting the cheese for you as you wait and taste and will happily talk about cheese all night. You can even purchase a bottle of your preferred wine to go with it – now that’s what I call “ready meals”. Of course you’re welcome to stay for an extra glass or two at Gerald’s bar; there may even be some fondue on the menu.

Cheese to take home and mamke the perfect fondue will be:-

Swiss Gruyere – 200g
Viamala – 100g
Tete de Moine – 100g

and we’ll include a copy of the recipe.

Bec and Adam will be our cheese-meisters on the night and will have more information about the cheese and the recipe with them. Come along and chat and taste AND take some cheese home with you. (How can you say no?)
